Cambridge Home Damaged in Electrical Fire

June 21, 2024

CAMBRIDGE, MD – A fire occurred at a 1.5-story single-family dwelling on Robbins Street in Cambridge, reported on Wednesday at 1:33 PM. The Rescue Fire Company responded promptly to the blaze, which officials have preliminarily determined was accidental, caused by an electrical failure in the kitchen.

The fire required two alarms and 25 firefighters to control, taking approximately 60 minutes to contain. Despite the extensive efforts, the structure suffered significant damage estimated at $30,000, with additional contents losses around $15,000.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. The smoke alarm in the home was operational and activated during the fire, which contributed to the safety of the occupants who discovered the fire.

At this time, there have been no arrests connected to the incident. The investigation into the exact cause is ongoing, but initial findings point to an electrical issue within the kitchen as the origin.
