Candlewood Lake’s Blueberry Island Closed Due to Unsanitary Conditions

September 3, 2022

NEW FAIRFIELD, CT – A boating spot favored for partygoers on Candlewood Lake has been closed according to the police due to ‘unsanitary conditions’. Some local community members have argued that boaters who park on the island often leave their trash behind.

The notice came less than a day before Labor Day

The Connecticut State Police did not elaborate on the conditions at the island. Some boaters have threatened to defy the state police order this weekend.

The Island is owned by First Light Power Resources.
