Charles County Lottery Player Wins $50,000 Powerball Prize

November 20, 2024

Waldorf, MD – A resident of Charles County secured a $50,000 third-tier Powerball win in the drawing held on October 19 by playing numbers based on the ages of her family members. This marks the second third-tier Powerball win from Waldorf in the past week.

The winner, who is a grandmother, expressed her disbelief at winning using the ages of her children, siblings, and a grandchild. She said the numbers matched four out of five and the Powerball, leading to her surprise victory. The ticket had remained unchecked for over a month before she discovered her win.

The Southern Maryland federal government employee intends to use her prize to pay bills and plans to keep playing in hopes of winning the full jackpot. She is considering adjusting the numbers annually as her family members age, though she is undecided on whether to continue with the same numbers next year.

The winning ticket was bought at Waldorf Food Mart Citgo located on 11901 Business Park Drive in Charles County.
