Child in Critical Condition After Near-Drowning in South Seaside Park Pool

SOUTH SEASIDE PARK, N.J. — A four-year-old boy is in critical but stable condition after an accidental submersion in a swimming pool on Friday afternoon.

The incident, which occurred around 3:30 p.m., prompted an emergency response from the Berkeley Township Police Department.

According to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, the child was found unresponsive after being pulled from the pool. Emergency life-saving measures were immediately administered before the boy was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, along with the Special Victims Unit, Berkeley Township Police Department, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, is currently investigating the incident.

Authorities have not released further details as the investigation is ongoing.

The location of the pool was not immediately released at this time.
