EAST HANOVER, N.J. – Snack maker Mondelēz Global LLC announced a nationwide expansion of its voluntary recall of CHIPS AHOY! Baked Bites Brookie products following an initial recall issued on December 24. The company said Tuesday that the recall now covers an additional code date — May 10, 2026 — and two new UPC codes found on smaller pouch products packaged inside the recalled cartons.
The company said the recall stems from an incorrect mixing process that led to the formation of small corn starch clumps in the snack. Due to their size and texture, the clumps could pose a choking risk, particularly for children and older adults. Mondelēz emphasized that no injuries or illnesses have been reported, and the move is being taken “out of an abundance of caution.”
According to the company, the recall affects only CHIPS AHOY! Baked Bites Brookie products with “Best When Used By” dates between May 9 and May 18, 2026. The recalled items were distributed in limited quantities to retail stores across the United States. Other CHIPS AHOY! or Mondelēz products are not impacted.
The recall includes several package sizes, including 22.4-ounce, 7.0-ounce, 2.8-ounce, and 1.4-ounce pouches, with UPC codes ranging from 4400008566 to 44000086688. Mondelēz urged consumers who have purchased any of the affected snacks to avoid eating them and to contact customer service for more information.
