Union County player lands nearly one million dollars in Jersey Cash 5 split jackpot

Union, NJ – A neighborhood convenience store in Union County sold a lottery ticket that matched all five numbers in Thursday night’s Jersey Cash 5 drawing, securing nearly one million dollars for a lucky player.

The New Jersey Lottery announced that a winning Jersey Cash 5 ticket was sold at Basic Food Mart, located at 498 Chestnut Street in Union. The ticket matched all five numbers to claim half of the $1,974,960 jackpot, resulting in a prize of $987,480.

The winning numbers drawn were 08, 10, 16, 33, and 43, with a Bullseye of 16 and an XTRA number of 02. The jackpot was split after two tickets matched all five numbers in the same drawing.

Basic Food Mart will receive a $2,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. Lottery officials said the identity of the winner will not be known until the prize is claimed and validated.

Beyond the two jackpot-winning tickets, dozens of players statewide also collected prizes. Forty-nine tickets matched four numbers and the Bullseye to win $500, while 13 players increased their winnings to $1,000 by playing the XTRA option.

With the jackpot split, the Jersey Cash 5 prize pool reset to $150,000 for the next drawing.
