Coeur d’Alene, Idaho – After Spokane, Washington enacted a curfew on protesters and rioters, word crossed the Washington-Idaho border that on Tuesday night, those protesters would instead take the 30-mile drive east to protest in Coeur d’Alene (Coor-de-layn), Idaho. The residents of Couer d’Alene however play by much different rules than those in liberal-leaning Washington state to the west.
That’s because, in Idaho, open carry is legal. A concealed weapons license is not required for open carry, nor is it necessary for rifles. As long as your firearm is open and in plain sight, you can carry it. So the residents of the Couer d’Alene, population 51,000 armed themselves and spent their evening out and about downtown.
Needless to say, while some protesters showed up, there was no looting or damage reported in the city. In fact, the armed Idahoans made sure that the peaceful Black Lives Matter protest wasn’t hijacked by agitators and they worked hand in hand with the protesters.
