Utica, NY- In late August, Utica Police took a report from a victim alleging that an individual who was helping her in her home had stolen her credit card and made close to 20 transactions, resulting in over $1,300 in losses.

The case was assigned to an investigator from the Criminal Investigations Division. The investigation confirmed that the named individual committed the theft.

At the conclusion, John Greany, 38, of Utica, was charged with Grand Larceny in the fourth degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the fourth degree, and Identity Theft in the second degree.

The charges followed a detailed investigation into the nearly 20 unauthorized transactions made with the stolen credit card.
