COLUMBIA, MD — A Howard County woman walked away with a $50,000 top prize from a Mosaic Money scratch-off ticket after nearly skipping her regular Lottery purchase during a routine visit to a local store.
The winner, who uses the nickname Winston/Rock for publicity purposes, stopped at Quick Stop Food Mart on June 17 to buy her usual terminal games. Just as she was about to leave, the store clerk reminded her about her typical scratch-off purchase, prompting her to buy a handful of $5 tickets from the vending machine.
She began scratching the QR codes on her tickets and scanning them while still inside the store. The last ticket revealed a message directing her to contact the Lottery. Store staff then confirmed she had won the $50,000 top prize.
Prize Claimed Days Later
Winston/Rock, an employee with the Howard County School System, kept the winning ticket secured at home before claiming her prize at Lottery Headquarters on June 24.
She plans to invest the winnings, assist family members, and set aside funds to welcome an expected great grandchild.
The winning ticket was purchased at Quick Stop Food Mart at 10750 Hickory Ridge Road in Columbia, which will receive a $500 bonus for selling the top-prize winning ticket.
The $5 Mosaic Money scratch-off launched in March. As of June 26, five of the eight $50,000 top prizes remain unclaimed, along with thousands of additional prizes ranging from $5 to $5,000.
