HARRISBURG, PA – Attorney General Michelle Henry has announced the arrest of Byron Ceasar, a convicted felon found in possession of an array of firearms and a significant amount of ammunition in his northeast Philadelphia residence. The arrest was the culmination of an investigation led by the Attorney General’s Gun Violence Task Force, with the support of the Philadelphia Police Department, into Ceasar’s recent activities at the Oaks Gun Show.
On a recent Friday, agents executed a search warrant at Ceasar’s Carver Street home, uncovering eight firearms, including several assault rifles, and over six thousand rounds of ammunition. Ceasar, 42, faces eight felony counts of illegal possession of firearms, reflecting his status as a twice-convicted felon. Following his arraignment on Saturday, bail was set at $1 million.
Attorney General Henry emphasized the importance of the operation, highlighting the danger posed by illegal firearms in the community and praising the collaborative effort between various agencies. The seized firearms include a Springfield Hellcat 9mm pistol, a Bushmaster AR-15, a Mossberg International AR-style pistol, a stolen Ruger 357 revolver, and other high-capacity weapons.
The Philadelphia Gun Violence Task Force, a key player in the operation, continues its mission to combat illegal firearm transactions and their consequential violence, partnering with local, state, and federal agencies. Last year alone, the task force was instrumental in seizing over 500 firearms and engaging in nearly 400 investigative operations within Philadelphia, underlining its critical role in maintaining public safety.
