September 11, 2023

CHESAPEAKE, VA – Animal Control Officer Barlow and Police Officer M. Chappelle responded to a situation involving an injured bald eagle found on Volvo Parkway near Crossways Blvd.

The incident happened on Monday as America, whose symbol of freedom is the bald eagle, commemorated the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The eagle was safely removed from the roadway and transported to a wildlife rehabber for treatment.

The Chesapeake Police Department prioritized the eagle’s well-being, ensuring it was not further harmed until it could be safely rescued.

The bird is now receiving the necessary care to hopefully return to the skies.

The Chesapeake Police Department invites individuals interested in making a positive difference in the community to explore career opportunities with them.
