North Carolina man arrested in Benning Road homicide that killed DC woman

Washington, DC – Police have arrested a 38-year-old North Carolina man in connection with the July shooting death of a woman found unconscious on Benning Road in Northeast.

Just after midnight on July 5, Sixth District officers were flagged down in the 2000 block of Benning Road NE. They discovered 28-year-old Daquane Johnson of Northeast suffering from gunshot wounds. She was rushed to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead despite life-saving efforts.

On Wednesday, September 17, detectives announced the arrest of Edgar Arrington, 38, of Salisbury, North Carolina. Acting on a DC Superior Court warrant, police charged him with First Degree Murder while Armed with Aggravating Circumstances.

Authorities have not released details about the motive or the relationship between Arrington and the victim.

The case remains under investigation.
