Crash turns deadly after car crosses into oncoming traffic in Bowie

Driver killed after car crosses lanes in early morning Bowie crash

Bowie, MD — A morning commute turned fatal when a vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic, resulting in a deadly collision that left one driver dead and another fighting for life.

The crash occurred around 6:45 a.m. Tuesday near Laurel Bowie Road at Old Laurel Bowie Road in an unincorporated area of Bowie. Police said 25-year-old Mohammed Al Yasiri of Laurel was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators said preliminary findings indicate Al Yasiri was traveling southbound when his vehicle crossed into the northbound lanes and collided with another car.

The second driver involved in the crash was also transported to a hospital and remains in critical condition.

The Prince George’s County Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
