BUFFALO, N.Y. – Several crashes and lane restrictions across upstate New York and the Hudson Valley disrupted Friday morning traffic, with incidents reported from Erie County to Westchester and Long Island, according to state transportation data.
In western New York, a crash on the I-190 Niagara Thruway southbound before Exit N11 (Scajaquada Expressway/Route 198) in Buffalo was reported just after 8:30 a.m., creating brief slowdowns approaching downtown. A separate crash on the I-90 eastbound Thruway near Exit 48A in Pembroke blocked the left lane, adding to morning congestion between Batavia and Buffalo.
In the Hudson Valley, a southbound crash on I-87 just after Exit 14A near the Garden State Parkway connection caused delays for Rockland County drivers heading toward New Jersey. Nearby, in Westchester County, a crash on NY 22 in Bedford blocked the right shoulder, and emergency medical activity along the Saw Mill River Parkway in Yonkers temporarily closed several lanes around Exit 4A at Rumsey Road.
Traffic in Dutchess County was slowed by a vehicle that ran off the road on the Taconic State Parkway northbound at Exit 45 (Noxon Road).
On Long Island, westbound drivers on the Southern State Parkway faced two separate crashes—one near Exit 23 (Meadowbrook Road) in Hempstead, where the right shoulder was blocked, and another at Exit 31 (Bethpage State Parkway ramp) in Oyster Bay, closing the left shoulder.
In New York City, an early crash on the I-495 eastbound exit ramp to the Cross Island Parkway in Queens blocked a right lane but was cleared by midmorning.
While most incidents were cleared quickly, morning commuters across the state faced typical backups along major corridors into New York City and through the Hudson Valley.
Friday morning’s drive across New York brought multiple crashes and lane closures from Buffalo to Long Island, causing scattered but manageable delays.
