PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Pennsylvania’s Friday morning drive brought a mix of collisions, construction zones, and police activity stretching from Philadelphia to the state’s western counties, according to the latest traffic updates from state transportation officials.
In Philadelphia, a multi-vehicle crash on I-95 northbound just one mile north of Exit 30 (Cottman Avenue/Rhawn Street) was cleared by 8:34 a.m. after causing major early delays. A separate crash on I-676 westbound between the Ben Franklin Parkway and the I-76 interchange left one lane restricted as crews continued cleanup.
Farther west, fire department activity slowed traffic on I-81 southbound near Exit 49 (High Street) in Cumberland County, where a lane restriction was in place through midmorning. In York County, a crash on PA 124 at Capehorn Road and Edgewood Road was disrupting both directions, while police in Chester County were managing an active scene on PA 100 northbound at Bartlett Avenue.
Berks County saw two full closures on PA 61 between Snyder Road and Lake Shore Drive due to police activity, with both directions shut down since early morning. A separate crash on U.S. 222 southbound near the Tuckerton interchange had all lanes reopened by 8:12 a.m.
Utility and construction work also created spot disruptions statewide. Lane restrictions remained on PA 26 in Centre County, PA 93 in Carbon County, and multiple surface routes in Dauphin and Montgomery counties. In Chester County, Olive Street between Sixteenth and Eighteenth avenues and Whitford Road near Lindenwood Drive were both fully closed for utility work. Additional restrictions were reported on Byers Road, River Road, and Mt. Pleasant Road in Fayette County.
