Crazy karen who tormented black man, dog, at park loses dog, may lose her job

CENTRAL PARK, NY – A woman who became famous in a viral video this weekend after she threatened to make false charges against a black man in Central Park has even more problems to worry about. In the video, she was asked to put her dog on a leash after it was unleashed in the leash-only section of the park. A man passing by offered to give her dog a treat and she flipped out. She went on to threaten the man, calling the police on him, claiming that he was a black man ready to assault her and her dog. While arguing with the man, the woman’s dog was clearly in distress, getting choked and yanked from side to side.

Turns out, he was just some nice guy trying to do the right thing for the right reason and trying to help. Well, not really, he was annoyed, apparently because he was bird watching and the woman’s dog was unleashed.

Now, with her identity revealed, she’s in a world of trouble. It turns out her name is Amy Cooper and she is…or was the head of insurance investment solutions at Franklin Templeton, a global mutual fund firm.

“We take these matters very seriously, and we do not condone racism of any kind,” Franklin Templeton said in a statement. “While we are in the process of investigating the situation, the employee involved has been put on administrative leave.”

To make matters worse, on Monday Cooper surrendered her dog to the rescue where she got it from.

“As of this evening, the owner has voluntarily surrendered the dog in question to our rescue while this matter is being addressed,” Abandoned Angels Cocker Spaniel Rescue posted on their Facebook page after receiving the dog. “The dog is now in our rescue’s care and he is safe and in good health,”

Cooper later told NBC, she raged because she didn’t know what was in the dog treat Christian Cooper was offering.

Christian Cooper’s sister, Melody, who is a Sci-Fi Horror writer for CW and HBO posted the original video on Twitter that sent the twitterverse spiraling out of control.

“Oh, when Karens take a walk with their dogs off leash in the famous Bramble in NY’s Central Park, where it is clearly posted on signs that dogs MUST be leashed at all times, and someone like my brother (an avid birder) politely asks her to put her dog on the leash,” Melody Cooper said.

Yes, everyone in this story is a Cooper and we’d bet, most likely, not related.
