Cumberland man arrested for assault on Fayette Street

CUMBERLAND, Md. — A 22-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday morning following an assault at a residence on the 400 block of Fayette Street, the Cumberland Police Department reported.

Officers responded to the scene at approximately 12:17 a.m. and conducted an investigation. The victim informed police that Jaren Jennings Brunson had assaulted them, and officers observed injuries consistent with the victim’s account. Statements from an independent witness corroborated the allegations.

Brunson was taken into custody and transported to Central Booking. He was later presented before a District Court commissioner and released on his own recognizance.
