Cumberland police continue investigation into death of local man found in parking garage

January 11, 2025

CUMBERLAND, MD — The Cumberland Police Department is actively investigating the death of 42-year-old Todd Adams, who was found deceased in a downtown parking garage on December 22, 2024.

Adams was discovered around 1:30 a.m. in the garage located at the corner of Frederick and Mechanic Streets. Known throughout the community for frequenting the downtown area and local services for the homeless, Adams was easily recognizable due to his prosthetic leg and was affectionately called “Peg Leg” by friends.

Police reported that Adams was last seen walking through the downtown area on the evening of December 21. Surveillance and witness accounts confirm that he entered the parking garage and interacted with several individuals that night. At the time, he was wearing brown pants and a blue hooded sweatshirt.

Adams’ friends and family continue to mourn his loss and are seeking answers about the circumstances surrounding his death. The Cumberland Police Department and C3I detectives have been actively pursuing leads and following up on numerous community tips.

Authorities are urging anyone with information related to Adams’ movements or interactions that night to come forward.
