CUMBERLAND, Md. — The Cumberland Police Department is investigating a series of online threats targeting local schools, according to a press release issued Thursday. Authorities say similar threats have been reported in multiple jurisdictions across the country.

At this time, there is no credible threat to schools in Cumberland, but as a precaution, residents will see increased police patrols and an enhanced officer presence around school campuses.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information regarding the threats is encouraged to contact the Cumberland Police Department at 911 or (301) 777-1600.
