Cumberland Police Make Arrest in Robbery and Assault Case

CUMBERLAND, MD — The Cumberland Police Department announced the arrest of 20-year-old John Henry Kratz from Keyser, WV, following an incident that occurred on June 1. Kratz was apprehended on Monday based on an arrest warrant from the Allegany County District Court.

The charges stem from an alleged assault and robbery at a residence on Main Street in Westernport, MD. Following his arrest, Kratz was taken before a District Court Commissioner for his initial appearance and was subsequently remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently held on a $5,000 bond.

Kratz faces several charges including robbery, second-degree assault, and theft of less than $100.
