Cumberland ROCKS! Event Celebrates Community and Creativity at Quarter Mile Lane School

April 20, 2024

BRIDGETON, NJ — Quarter Mile Lane School recently hosted a vibrant event called “Cumberland ROCKS!” on April 18, designed to foster social-emotional learning among students and celebrate the spirit of Cumberland County. This initiative encourages children to express their creativity and affection for their community through the art of rock painting.

The event showcased students’ painted rocks, each depicting what they consider the ‘gems’ of their community, whether it be local nature, sports, or cultural experiences. Among the artistic creations was a notably beautifully painted butterfly on one of the rocks, highlighting the artistic talents of the youth in Cumberland County.

Cumberland ROCKS! not only promotes art and community spirit but also aims to inspire residents to appreciate and care for their surroundings, making them proud ambassadors of their area. The rocks painted by the students are displayed at the school, allowing everyone in the community to enjoy these mini art pieces.

For those interested in participating in the CC ROCKS! initiative or simply contributing to the community art project, contact Public Safety Reform Strategist Tracy Swan at TracySw@CumberlandCountyNJ.gov. Participants are also encouraged to share their rock art on social media using the hashtag #CCROCKS to spread positivity and communal pride.
