Cumberland Woman Arrested for Assault with Crowbar

CUMBERLAND, MD – The Cumberland Police Department, in conjunction with the Cumberland Fire Department, responded to an assault incident on Centre Street on June 15. Officers arrived at the scene to find a male victim holding a washcloth to his head, with visible blood dripping from the area.

Officers provided immediate assistance by applying pressure to the wound. The victim reported being assaulted with a crowbar. The Cumberland Fire Department transported the victim to UPMC for further medical treatment.

The victim identified the assailant as Alyssa Hockenberry, 21, of Cumberland. Hockenberry was subsequently arrested and taken to the Allegany County Detention Center. She faces charges of first-degree and second-degree assault.
