Cumerland Man Recovering after Being Attacked with Baseball Bat During Argument

CUMBERLAND, Md. — A Cumberland man has been arrested and charged with first-degree assault after allegedly attacking another man with a baseball bat during an argument at a residence on Kentucky Avenue. The altercation reportedly stemmed from a dispute over ramen noodles.

On Tuesday, October 29, officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to a call regarding an assault involving a baseball bat. Upon arrival, police found a male victim suffering from injuries to his head, face, arm, and leg. The Cumberland Fire Department transported the victim to a nearby medical facility with suspected serious injuries.

According to police, the argument escalated when the suspect, identified as Steven William McDonald, 32, retrieved a baseball bat and allegedly began striking the victim multiple times. Witnesses on the scene corroborated the victim’s account of the assault.

McDonald was taken into custody and charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and use of a dangerous weapon with intent to injure. After an initial court appearance, he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center and is currently being held without bond.
