D.C. Man Pleads Guilty to Armed Robberies Linked to Facebook Marketplace Ads

May 4, 2024

WASHINGTON, DC – Isaiah Green, a 19-year-old resident of Washington D.C., has pleaded guilty to two counts of armed robbery in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, as announced by U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves and Metropolitan Police Department Chief Pamela Smith.

Green’s guilty plea was entered on May 2, 2024, before the Honorable Lynn Leibovitz, who has scheduled sentencing for July 5, 2024. The charges stem from two separate incidents where victims were lured through Facebook Marketplace ads and subsequently robbed at gunpoint.

The first incident occurred on August 19, 2023, when victim D.H. was robbed of $1500 in valuables including his cellphone and wallet after attempting to purchase a Stihl brand saw advertised online. The second robbery involved victim E.C. on December 3, 2023, who, along with his wife, was ambushed while trying to buy a Hilti Laser. The assailants stole E.C.’s wallet and iPhone, along with additional cash from the vehicle.

Investigations led by the Metropolitan Police Department, in cooperation with Prince George’s County Police, utilized evidence from Facebook to identify Green as the suspect. A subsequent search warrant executed at Green’s residence on December 21, 2023, resulted in the recovery of items linking him directly to the crimes, including the phone used to arrange the robberies and items stolen from the victims.
