Dad arrested for Christmas Eve murder of four-year-old son in Baltimore triple shooting

December 29, 2024

BALTIMORE, MD — Baltimore County police have charged 30-year-old Mark Jones in connection with the fatal shooting of his four-year-old son, Jacobi Jones, and the shooting of two others during a domestic incident on Christmas Eve. Authorities confirmed Saturday that Jones is being held without bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center.

Police responded to reports of a shooting early Tuesday morning on the unit block of Breslin Court in the Rosedale area. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult woman and two children suffering from gunshot wounds. All three were transported to a nearby hospital, where four-year-old Jacobi Jones was pronounced dead.

Officials revealed that the suspect, identified as Mark Jones, also sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound during the incident. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment before being taken into custody.

Baltimore County detectives said the shooting stemmed from a domestic-related assault, though further details surrounding the circumstances have not been disclosed. Investigators are continuing their work to establish the events leading up to the violence.

Jones now faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, and will remain in custody as he awaits court proceedings.
