Dan Rodrick Calls for Anti-Sanctuary State Resolution in Toms River

TOMS RIVER-Toms River Republican Councilman Daniel Rodrick tonight called for a formal resolution denouncing the sanctuary state directive known as the “Immigrant Trust Directive” issued by New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal and Governor Phil Murphy.

Rodrick said, “Governor Murphy’s dangerous sanctuary city directive that blocks our town and county law enforcement officers from contacting immigration officers puts everyone in our community at risk.”

At Tuesday night’s council meeting, Rodrick brought his idea to the governing body which ignored his request.   Not a single council member or another government official in attendance on the board responded to Rodrick’s request.

“I would hope that the council presents a resolution at the next meeting,” Rodrick said.  Rodrick pointed to neighboring towns of Berkeley Township, Jackson Township and Brick Township who have recently adopted formal resolutions in opposition to the sanctuary state directive. “If the Democrats in Brick can pass such a resolution, I do not see why we cannot garner bi-partisan support for this resolution here in Toms River.”

In Brick Township, Democrats challenged the Democrat governor and issued a resolution seeking to repeal the directive issued by Grewal last December.
