TOMS RIVER, NJ – July 16, 2020 – David Richter, the Republican nominee for Congress in New Jersey’s Third District, announced today the launch of his campaign’s “Defend Don’t Defund” initiative in support of New Jersey’s law enforcement community.
“Especially in these challenging times, our law enforcement officers report to work every day under dangerous and difficult circumstances. They put their lives at stake defending us all and I am fed up with radical leftists making them all out to be villains,” said Richter.
He continued, “To show my support for the law enforcement community and to show them that the citizens of the Third District stand with them, our campaign has launched the “Defend Don’t Defund” initiative. We will be visiting with law enforcement throughout the district and as a member of Congress I promise to always stand with and support our law enforcement and first responders.”
Seaside Heights Chief of Police Thomas Boyd said, “At a time when our men and women in blue are being asked to do more than ever before and to stretch their budgets even further, now is not the time for defunding of police departments. In order for us to ensure that we can keep the members of our community safe, we need the resources to also keep our officers safe and maintain their presence in the community. That starts with proper funding. I’m grateful to David for launching this initiative and it’s good to know that someone who hopes to serve us in Washington is looking out for our officers.”
Richter is the former CEO of global construction management firm Hill International. During his time at the company, Hill grew from a struggling family business with less than 300 employees into a successful public company with more than 4,300 employees. A lifelong Republican, Richter grew up in and has spent most of his life living and working in the Third District. He earned two bachelor’s degrees and a law degree from Penn as well as master’s degrees from Oxford and Harvard. Richter and his wife Michelle, who have been married for 20 years, are the parents of four daughters.
