Suspect sought after broad daylight robbery on 40th Street NE

WASHINGTON, DC – A robbery in Northeast DC’s 6th District has sparked an active police investigation after a suspect fled the scene Wednesday afternoon, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

The incident occurred around 2 p.m. in the 300 block of 40th Street NE. Police are searching for a suspect described as a Black male, approximately 5’9″ tall, with a medium build, believed to be between 20 and 30 years old. He was last seen wearing all black clothing and a green hat.

Officers from the 6th District responded to the scene shortly after receiving the alert. No injuries were immediately reported, and no arrests have been made. The event is listed under MPD Event #I20250512943.

Authorities have not released details about what was taken or whether a weapon was involved. The investigation remains ongoing.
