Surveillance video puts renewed focus on July break-in
WASHINGTON, DC – Nearly two months after a burglar forced into a Pennsylvania Avenue business in Southeast DC and escaped with a cash register, police are turning to the public in an effort to identify the suspect captured on surveillance video.
The break-in occurred at approximately 3:46 a.m. on July 6 in the 1100 block of Pennsylvania Avenue SE, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Police said the suspect forced open an exterior door to gain entry to the establishment, then took a cash register containing U.S. currency and fled.
The amount of cash inside the register was not disclosed.
First District officers responded to the business at approximately 6:47 a.m., about three hours after the burglary occurred.
MPD released surveillance footage showing the person investigators are seeking to identify. The department announced its request for assistance Thursday, nearly two months after the burglary.

MPD offers a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and indictment of a person or people responsible for a crime committed in the District.
