WASHINGTON, DC – A drug manufacturing investigation led to a massive seizure in Southeast Washington Tuesday afternoon, where authorities recovered over 200 pounds of synthetic marijuana and multiple firearms during a search of a home on the 1300 block of E Street SE.
Investigators were conducting surveillance related to the production of synthetic cannabinoids when they observed 28-year-old Tyrone Phillips loading a storage container into a vehicle outside the residence. Officers placed Phillips under arrest after spotting a “brown leafy substance” in the container.
A subsequent search of the property uncovered approximately 214 pounds of suspected synthetic marijuana, an AK-47-style pistol, and two handguns. Authorities also found equipment used in the manufacturing process.
Phillips faces multiple charges, including Possession with Intent to Distribute, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Counterfeit Tags.
