Man arrested after broad daylight pocket robbery in Northeast DC

WASHINGTON, DC – A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a violent robbery that took place in broad daylight along Maryland Avenue in Northeast DC, where a victim was assaulted and robbed of his belongings earlier this week.

The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Monday in the 1500 block of Maryland Avenue NE. According to officials, a man approached the victim on the sidewalk, physically assaulted him, and forcibly removed items from his pockets before fleeing the area on foot. The victim was later taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two days later, on Wednesday, police arrested 48-year-old Dominic Hilliard of Northeast DC in connection with the crime. He has been charged with Robbery (Force and Violence).

The charge follows an investigation by responding officers and detectives who were able to identify the suspect within 48 hours of the attack.

Police did not disclose whether any of the stolen property was recovered. The nature of the items taken has not been released. The case remains under investigation.
