DC man arrested for killing woman in broad daylight

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of Tequila Parker in Southeast last month, police announced Thursday.

The incident occurred around 12:41 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, in the 2300 block of Pitts Place SE. Officers responding to a shooting report found Parker, 32, unconscious and suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS pronounced her dead at the scene after lifesaving efforts failed.

On Wednesday, June 18, Mercury Ford III, of Southeast D.C., was arrested under a DC Superior Court warrant and charged with First Degree Murder While Armed (Premeditated).

Officials have not released further details on the motive or circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Arrest made in deadly daytime shooting

The case is being handled by homicide detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department. Parker’s death marked another broad-daylight homicide in Southeast D.C., prompting calls for tips and public cooperation.
