DC man arrested in cold case sex assault and robbery from 2022

WASHINGTON, DC – A Southeast D.C. man was taken into custody last month in connection to a brutal armed robbery and sexual assault that took place over three years ago in the middle of the night on a Northeast street.

The charges stem from an August 2022 attack in the 300 block of Florida Avenue NE, where two victims were approached by a group of suspects around 1:00 a.m. One of the suspects implied they had a gun before forcing one victim into a sexual act and robbing the second. No weapon was displayed during the incident, but both suspects fled the scene after stealing property.

Following an extended investigation, police identified one of the suspects as 31-year-old Anthony Greene of Southeast, D.C. Surveillance footage from the area captured images of the remaining suspect, aiding in the breakthrough that eventually led to Greene’s arrest.

On Tuesday, December 23, Greene was taken into custody pursuant to a DC Superior Court warrant. He has been charged with First Degree Sexual Abuse and Armed Robbery (Gun).

Investigators are still searching for the second suspect and urge anyone with information to contact the Metropolitan Police Department. Tipsters may call (202) 727-9099 or send anonymous messages to the TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. A reward of up to $10,000 remains available for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.
