Man fatally shot on Valley Avenue as DC homicide investigation continues

Washington, DC – A man was found fatally shot in Southeast DC on Wednesday evening, prompting a homicide investigation now underway by the Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers from the Seventh District responded around 5:34 p.m. to reports of gunfire in the 1200 block of Valley Avenue SE. When they arrived, they located an adult male who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was unresponsive. DC Fire and EMS assessed the victim and pronounced him dead at the scene.

The victim was later identified as 31-year-old Tyrone Kearney, a resident of Southeast DC.

Police have not released any suspect information. The case remains open and active, with homicide detectives continuing to review evidence and speak to potential witnesses. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and indictment.
