DC protest to shut down key streets near Kennedy Center during daytime demonstration
WASHINGTON, DC — A planned demonstration in the District is expected to cause road closures and parking restrictions throughout the day Friday, impacting traffic near the Kennedy Center and surrounding areas.
Officials said the First Amendment demonstration will take place March 27, with restrictions in effect from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
During that time, several streets in Northwest will be closed to through traffic and designated as emergency no parking zones.
The impacted areas include Jamal Khashoggi Way from F Street to Virginia Avenue, as well as F Street from Rock Creek Parkway to Jamal Khashoggi Way.
Access to parking garages for the Kennedy Center and the Watergate complex will remain available, according to authorities.
Drivers are advised to expect delays and consider alternate routes due to increased pedestrian activity and road closures.
Officials said vehicles parked in violation of posted emergency no parking signs will be ticketed and towed.
All closures and restrictions are subject to change depending on conditions.
