Deal Police increase security at synagogues following DC shooting

DEAL, N.J. — In response to the fatal shooting of two Israeli Embassy staff members outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., the Deal Police Department announced heightened security measures around local synagogues and other sensitive sites.

Chief Ronen Neuman stated in a message released Thursday that the department is treating the incident with “the utmost seriousness” and reaffirmed that community safety remains the department’s top priority.

“We are actively increasing security measures around all synagogues and other key locations to ensure protection and peace of mind,” Chief Neuman said. He urged residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity.

The action comes less than 24 hours after the targeted shooting, which is being investigated as a hate crime by authorities in the nation’s capital.
