Delaware Man Arrested for Damaging and Vandalizing Towing Company

Townsend, DE — Delaware State Police have arrested Jacob Singleton, a 24-year-old from Bear, Delaware, on charges of felony criminal mischief following an incident at a Townsend business. The arrest occurred after Singleton allegedly caused extensive damage at Drake’s Towing on Dupont Parkway.

The incident, which took place on June 27, 2024, around 7:10 PM, began when Singleton discovered the business was closed. Aggravated by this, he reportedly shattered a window with a chair and inflicted several thousand dollars worth of damage before fleeing in a black sedan. Subsequent police investigations led to Singleton’s identification and the issuance of an arrest warrant.

Singleton was apprehended by the New Castle County Police Department on June 30 and was taken to Troop 2 for processing. He was charged with criminal mischief amounting to $5,000 or more—a felony—and third-degree criminal trespass. Following his arraignment by Justice of the Peace Court 11, Singleton was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $6,001 secured bond.
