Delaware State Police are investigating a deadly single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Lincoln man Saturday night in Harrington.
According to investigators, the crash happened May 23, 2026, at approximately 9:57 p.m. on Sandbox Road east of McCauley Pond Road.
Police said a Nissan Altima was traveling westbound when the driver failed to negotiate a moderate curve in the roadway. The vehicle then lost control, rotated off the road, and crashed into a large tree.
Troopers said the rear passenger side of the Nissan struck the tree during the collision.
The driver, identified only as a 34-year-old man from Lincoln, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said he was not properly restrained at the time of the crash.
His identity is being withheld pending notification of family members.
Road Closed for Hours During Investigation
Sandbox Road remained closed for approximately three and a half hours while investigators processed the scene and crews worked to clear the roadway.
The Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the crash.
