December 7, 2024

NEWARK, DEL. — Delaware State Police are actively searching for a man accused of striking a pedestrian with a car and robbing him in a Newark gas station parking lot Wednesday evening.

Authorities say the incident occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. at the Shell gas station on East Chestnut Hill Road. A 38-year-old man was walking through the parking lot when a red passenger car approached at high speed and struck him. The driver, identified as 31-year-old John Arce of Newark, then exited the vehicle, stole the victim’s wallet, and fled the scene, police said.

The victim, who sustained serious injuries, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. Investigators later identified Arce as a family member of the victim.

Detectives from Troop 2 have issued a warrant for Arce’s arrest on multiple felony charges, including vehicular assault and robbery. His current location is unknown, and police are requesting assistance from the public to help locate him.

Anyone with information about Arce’s whereabouts is asked to contact Delaware State Police at (302) 365-8412 or provide tips anonymously through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
