Democrats in Berkeley Get Anticipated "News" Website Support…And Then Some

by Phil Stilton

Earlier this year, Ocean and Monmouth County Democrats launched a news website geared towards supporting Democrat candidates and vilifying Jersey Shore Republicans.

Last week, Berkeley Township residents Ed Olsen, Anne Marie Werthmann and Sara Ortenzio announced their candidacy based on an election filing petition obtained through a public records search.

Of the dozens of required signatures, those of Jon Salonis, operator of the Jersey Shore Insider website and Danielle Salonis, appeared first on the list on page 2, confirming the earlier SNN story.

Jon Salonis was also identified as the filer and circulator of the political petitions.

Hailed as a neutral news website, this filing confirms that the website has an underlying political campaign motivation.

Salonis, editor of Jersey Shore Insider also circulated nomination petitions for Anthony Mazzella to run against current Berkeley Township Mayor Carmen Amato.

Often attributing unnamed “Insiders” in news stories, “some people” say the Insider is nothing more than a political rag run by Democrats to mislead voters in Ocean County.
