Disney is Closing These Rides and Attractions in 2025

If you’re planning a trip to Disney World in 2025, brace yourself for some big changes! Several beloved rides and attractions in Magic Kingdom are either closing down or set for some major updates. Here’s what you need to know about the classics that are taking their final bow – and the new experiences that are stepping into the spotlight!

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

This classic thrill ride has given generations of park-goers the ultimate “wildest ride in the wilderness.” Although Disney hasn’t officially announced an exact date, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is likely to go down for a long-term refurbishment in early 2025. Fingers crossed that this beloved coaster will be back in action better than ever!

Liberty Square Riverboat

Set to close permanently in 2025, the Liberty Square Riverboat will sail its last voyage this coming year. For decades, this riverboat offered a scenic, slow-paced tour around Tom Sawyer Island, giving guests a chance to relax and take in some beautiful views. Fans of the old-school Magic Kingdom experience will surely miss this attraction, but if you’re visiting soon, make sure to get in one last ride!

Tom Sawyer Island

Another piece of nostalgia in Magic Kingdom, Tom Sawyer Island, will also be permanently closing its doors. It’s been a longtime favorite for explorers and daydreamers alike, featuring caves, bridges, and hidden trails. The island’s quirky adventures and tucked-away nooks will be missed, but Disney seems ready to bring in new attractions to keep the park fresh.

Starlight Night Parade – Debuting Summer 2025!

Though we’re saying goodbye to some old favorites, Disney will debut a brand-new parade! The Starlight Night Parade is expected to light up the Magic Kingdom in summer 2025, and it promises to bring a dazzling mix of lights, floats, and characters to Main Street, U.S.A. Think of it as a spectacular nighttime celebration with Disney magic amped up to the max.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure – Now Open!

Good news for Splash Mountain fans: Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is officially open and bringing a whole new chapter of adventure to the classic ride. Inspired by Disney’s The Princess and the Frog, this attraction brings guests along on a vibrant journey through New Orleans’ bayou, complete with new music, characters, and stunning scenes.

With these new developments, Magic Kingdom will be keeping some of its magic rooted in nostalgia while opening new chapters for Disney fans old and new. So, if you’re headed there in 2025, be sure to snag a last boat ride, explore Tom Sawyer Island, and get ready for fresh magic in the form of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and the Starlight Night Parade!
