Do you recognize him? Man gropes woman at Canal Street subway station then flees on foot, NYPD says

Police are seeking a man who allegedly groped a woman inside the Canal Street subway station on Sunday morning and then fled the scene on foot.

The incident occurred around 8:45 a.m. at the Canal Street station on the 6 line, within the area covered by the 5th Precinct and Transit District 2.

According to the NYPD, a 30-year-old female victim was walking up the station’s staircase when an unidentified man approached her from behind and grabbed her buttocks. The individual then followed the victim out of the station and pressed his groin against her lower back over her clothing.

He fled the area southbound on Centre Street. No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion, last seen wearing a black t-shirt, blue shorts, and white sneakers.

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the individual.
