Drive-by shooting suspect arrested by U.S. Marshals in Akron

December 20, 2024

AKRON, Ohio — Matt Walker, 32, wanted for a drive-by shooting and other violent offenses, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) late yesterday morning at a residence on Becker Lane in Akron.

Walker was sought by the Akron Police Department on multiple charges, including felonious assault, domestic violence, strangulation, and parole violations. He had been under supervision by the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for prior weapons-related offenses and was considered a significant threat to the community.

The charges stem from an October 22 drive-by shooting in the 300 block of West Miller Road. During the incident, a woman sitting on her porch was struck by gunfire and sustained serious injuries but survived.

Walker was taken into custody without incident, and authorities recovered an untraceable 9mm handgun at the time of his arrest. He was transported to the Summit County Jail, where he is being held on the pending charges.

“A dangerous and violent fugitive, with no regard for the Akron community and its citizens, is now behind bars,” said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott. “A fugitive who is under supervision for weapons violations, wanted for new weapons-related offenses, and found with a firearm at the time of his arrest is exactly who needs to be taken off the streets to protect our communities.”
