A late-night traffic stop led to a DUI arrest after deputies said a driver showed signs of impairment and later tested above the legal alcohol limit.

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A Dumfries woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a Stafford County deputy observed a vehicle failing to maintain its lane early Monday, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

The traffic stop occurred at about 12:41 a.m. Tuesday near Woodstock Lane and Richmond Highway.

Deputies said the driver displayed signs of impairment, including a strong odor of alcohol, slurred speech and glassy eyes. According to the sheriff’s office, the driver initially denied consuming alcohol before changing her account.

Field sobriety tests were conducted, and the driver initially refused to provide a breath sample, deputies said. At the Sheriff’s Office, a breath test indicated her blood alcohol content was above the legal limit.

The driver was identified as Monica Henn, 33, of Dumfries.

Henn was charged with driving under the influence and a traffic lane violation.

The charges are allegations, and Henn is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
