Driver Arrested After Fleeing Deputies and Crashing

November 16, 2024

Lavale, MD – An Allegany County Sheriff’s Deputy, while traveling on National Highway between Lavale and Frostburg on Monday, observed a sedan exceeding the speed limit. The deputy initiated their emergency lights to stop the vehicle, but the driver accelerated away.

The speeding vehicle lost control and struck another vehicle after crossing the double yellow line. It continued further into Lavale, hitting a curb, and slid through a business parking lot after losing its tires. The deputy apprehended the driver, who was attempting to exit the vehicle.

Joshua Fullwood, 19, from Aberdeen, MD, was arrested and faces charges of reckless endangerment and various traffic offenses. The road was partially closed to remove vehicles and clean the area.

Assistance at the scene was provided by the Maryland State Police, Maryland Fire Marshal’s Office, Lavale Rescue Squad, Allegany County EMS, and Lavale Fire Department.
