Driver arrested for DWI after crashing into tree in Bayville

BAYVILLE, N.J. — A Beachwood man was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a single-vehicle crash on Pinewald-Keswick Road on August 24, according to Berkeley Township Police.

Officers, including Sgt. Taylor Butler, Sgt. Sean Varady, and Patrolmen Robert Murawski, Michael Taylor, and Shawn Lightbody, responded to the scene where a vehicle had veered off the road and struck a tree. The driver, identified as Felix Thauriaux, 41, was examined by first aid personnel.

An investigation determined that Thauriaux was under the influence. He was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Driving, and Open Alcoholic Beverages in a Vehicle. Thauriaux’s vehicle was impounded under John’s Law, and he was released pending a court appearance.
