Driver killed in single-car crash in Middletown Township

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A woman died following a single-car crash Saturday evening in Middletown Township, police said.

Officers responded to Brownsville Road and South Buckthorne Avenue around 6:30 p.m. after receiving several reports of a vehicle crash. Upon arrival, they located a white Hyundai Elantra that had come to rest against a raised berm in the eastbound lane of Brownsville Road.

Neighbors at the scene were performing CPR on the unresponsive driver when officers arrived. Police said the driver, who was the only occupant of the car, was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Authorities are withholding the woman’s identity pending notification of her next of kin. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Middletown Township Police Traffic Safety Unit.

Officials are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant information to contact Officer Matt Balint at 215-750-3845 ext. 4114 or via email at mbalint@mtpd.org.
