BRONX, N.Y. – A confrontation over a vehicle inspection erupted into violence Thursday afternoon when a driver struck a mechanic with his car and fled from a Bronx auto repair shop, officials said. The clash took place around 2 p.m. inside 1611 East 233rd Street, where a 51-year-old man and another male began arguing over the inspection of a gray Nissan Rogue bearing New York plate KPY-6505.
According to police, the unidentified man became irate during the dispute, entered the vehicle, and struck the mechanic before speeding off toward an unknown location. The victim sustained injuries to his leg and was taken to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion, approximately 25 to 35 years old, thin build, and long black braided hair. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, tan jacket, black pants, and white and gray sneakers.
Police are asking anyone with information about the suspect’s identity or location to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline.
