Drug Seizure in Pearl River Leads to Arrest

October 24, 2024

Rockland County, NY – Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced that Darryl Wright, a 41-year-old resident of Pearl River, was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree. This arrest followed a six-month investigation by the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force into narcotics sales within Orangetown.

On Wednesday, a search conducted at Wright’s residence in Pearl River by detectives from the Drug Task Force and Orangetown Police Department resulted in the seizure of two kilos of cocaine, heroin, and additional drug paraphernalia. The operation signifies the efforts of local law enforcement to intercept drug trafficking in the community.

District Attorney Walsh emphasized that the arrest underscores a firm stance against illicit drug activities in Rockland County. The investigation involved joint efforts with the Rockland County Probation Department and the Detective and Patrol Division of the Orangetown Police.

Wright was arraigned Wednesday before Judge Patrick Loftus in Orangetown Justice Court and ordered to be held in Rockland County Jail without bail. Executive Assistant District Attorney Michael Dugandzic and Assistant District Attorney John Luongo have been designated to handle the case.
