Drunken Man Pulls Handgun During Domestic Dispute

March 12, 2024

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A domestic dispute involving a handgun escalated into an arrest in the 1100 block of Madison Street on Saturday, March 10, 2024. Annapolis Police were dispatched to the scene at 5:36 p.m., where they found Leonjay Surgeon and Melissa White engaged in a physical confrontation.

The altercation began when Surgeon, reportedly intoxicated, arrived at the apartment with a handgun visible in his waistband. The handgun fell to the floor during the dispute, prompting White to attempt to kick it away due to her anger over Surgeon’s possession of the weapon. Surgeon responded by pushing White to the ground and assaulting her. During the commotion, White’s boyfriend intervened, securing the firearm and removing it from the premises.

Upon arresting Surgeon, officers confiscated the Polymer 80 9mm handgun, which lacked a serial number and was equipped with a 30-round extended magazine containing four rounds. Surgeon has been charged and is currently held at the detention center.
